30th Annual Meeting of the International Association for Impact Assessment
(http://www.iaia.org/iaia10/default.aspx)
6-11 April 2010 | International Conference Centre Geneva (CICG) | Geneva, Switzerland
CSEAC will be participating to the next IAIA Conference in Geneva with three main initiatives:
- A special session looking at the role of SEA in promoting Low Carbon Economies in Asia: The Asia region has witnessed unprecedented growth over the past few decades, with China as one of the most remarkable drivers of change. However, growth in terms of per capita gross domestic product has been accompanied by increasing social and environmental challenge. This theme forum will conceptualise the link between SEA and LCE, and discuss obstacles and opportunities for the adoption of a pro-active integration role of assessment. This session is led by CSEAC’s International Deputy Director, Olivia Bina, and Andrea Ricci (Vice President of Institute of Studies for the Integration of Systems), in collaboration with Xu He (Centre for SEA, Nankai University).
- CSEAC and the Institute of Studies for the Integration of Systems will also be leading the Transport Theme for IAIA 2010 (one of five themes identified by IAIA and UNEP).
- Finally, KC Lam (CSEAC Director) and Olivia Bina will be contributing to the special session on ‘Review and Challenges of SEA for Development Cooperation’ jointly organized by the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) SEA Task Team and the World Bank’s SEA Pilot Program. Conveners: Fernando Loayza, World Bank and Peter Croal, OECD DAC SEA task team.
